Why is it used?

Primarily it is used to treat HCV virus infection without cirrhosis and with compensated cirrhosis in genotype 1,2,3,4,5 and 6. It is also used to treat HCV genotype 1 infection in patients who have taken treatment before with either NS5A or NS3/4A protease inhibitors but not with the both.

• There is not enough data available on pregnant women for using Mavixen about the risk of unborn baby. 
• Using this hepatitis C therapy for breastfeeding women is also not recommended for not having enough studies on that or the risk is unknown for infants. If the potential risk is higher than the outcome it is recommended not to use. 

Who should not use this medicine?

• If someone has been infected before with hepatitis B virus, their liver condition is not good. 
• If patients are allergic to any of the ingredients of the medication.
• If the possibility of outcome is less than the risk, then this medicine should not be used. 
• If someone has severe liver disease they should not use Mavixen.
