In 2019, Dr. Ahmed Ahnaf was working as a clinical pharmacist in an oncology ward in Dhaka. Every week, he watched patients leave without their prescriptions — not because the medicines didn’t exist, but because they couldn’t afford them. Brand-name chemotherapy agents costing $12,000 abroad were available for $400 through legitimate generic manufacturers in Bangladesh — yet patients in Australia, Canada, and the UK had no safe, legal pathway to access them.
After two years of research, regulatory consultation, and building relationships with WHO-approved manufacturers, Onus Pharma was founded in 2021 with a single purpose: to bridge the global medicine access gap for patients with cancer and life-threatening conditions.
