Tofacinix 11 mg 30 Tablets | Tofacitinib

Tofacinix 11 mg is used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It is used in adult patients who have had not enough response to TNF blockers. It is in a class of Janus Kinase inhibitor. The Janus Kinase is responsible for inflammation in joints tissues that cause severe pain. Tofacinxi is  a partial or reversible Janus Kinase inhibitor, prevents body from responding to cytokines signaling.

Dosage and Administration

To treat psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis the recommended doses are

• 5 mg tofacinix daily twice by mouth
• 11 mg tofacinix XR(extended release) daily once by mouth.

Doses modification for PA, RA and AS

• Do not exceed 5 mg daily
• Switch to 5 mg from 11 mg XR

To treat ulcerative colitis

• 10 mg tofacinx daily twice for 8 weeks ; evaluate patients and transition to maintenance therapy depending on therapeutic response
• If needed continue this schedule for 16 weeks; discontinue if adequate response is not achieved.

Side Effects of Tofacinix 11 mg

The most common and adverse effects of using tofacent 11 mg are Nasopharyngitis, Upper respiratory tract infection, Diarrhea, Headache, Hypertension, Increased blood creatine phosphokinase.

Pregnancy and Lactation

According to animal studies, Tofacitinib has the potential to affect a developing fetus. When pregnant rats and rabbits were given tofacitinib during organ development, it caused harmful effects on the fetus. These effects were observed at doses 146 times higher in rats and 13 times higher in rabbits than the standard human dose of 5 mg twice daily. In a study on rats, tofacitinib reduced litter size, pup survival, and body weight at doses about 73 times higher than the human dose of 5 mg twice daily.

It is recommended to use contraception for both male and female during taking tofacinix.

Women should not breast feed their children while taking tofacinix. If they must have to feed breast, they must consult with doctor and take decision whether they should take medicine or not.
